Design Expertise

Education Experience

Governance Literacy

You need KTIDEA when

  • You have a higher education challenge that is dynamic, unclear, or when fixing one part creates a challenge somewhere else

  • You must translate a high-level strategy to the ground, but intermediate systems were built for a different set of assumptions

  • Your teams need to address challenges that conventional approaches aren't solving

  • Students and teaching have contradictory requirements, but your institution/faculty has to address both at once

  • You need someone who understands both governance frameworks and ground-level realities, and the multiple paths between them

KTIDEA works at the intersection of applied design expertise, higher education experience, and governance literacy. The strategic approach has been refined through senior higher education leadership, and a research and project portfolio spanning secure assessment design frameworks, inclusive learning environments, and new program and curriculum offerings.

The practice builds on foundations in architecture and project management, doctoral research in design and insight, and formal governance training. It draws on twenty years of experience in Australian higher education institutions. The work continues to be informed by active education and design research.

KTIDEA operates across institution types to address wicked contemporary and complex education challenges, alongside academic and professional staff responsible for translating high-level strategy into practice.

KTIDEA was founded by Dr Kate Tregloan, GAICD, registered Architect, B.Arch(hons), B.Comm.

Higher Education’s wicked problems need designed responses …

Who we are

Led by Dr Kate Tregloan, KTIDEA brings design expertise, education leadership experience, and governance literacy together - an unusual and effective combination for higher education's contemporary challenges.

What we do

KTIDEA delivers through project partnerships, design intelligence coaching, and capacity building programs. The practice works alongside institutions, faculties, and academic and professional staff who are responsible for translating challenge into action.

How we do it

Design intelligence and strategic practices are tailored to respond to your context and wicked challenges. Reframing complexity, gathering perspectives, mapping practices, iterative prototyping and building capacity are grounded in research, deep sector knowledge and careful attention to the specifics of your environment.

Why we do it

KTIDEA is committed to addressing wicked challenges in higher education because learning matters to individuals and to the broader community.

The practice exists because good strategy for institutions, educators, and students shouldn’t be lost on the way to the ground-level, and because design and strategic expertise can make a real and lasting contribution.

Who we are not

KTIDEA is not a generic strategy or management consultancy, a technology vendor, or a large firm with junior staff doing the work.

Every engagement involves senior expertise directly, and starts with careful listening to your specific challenges and context.
